The Rotterdam marathon is upon us! This weekend is the 41st edition of the NN Marathon Rotterdam. Held annually since 1981, Rotterdam Marathon is one of the most popular marathons worldwide and has been featured in Runner’s World magazine. Over 20,000 runners participate each year and what’s even more impressive is that three world records have been run in the Rotterdam marathon.
Around 900,000 spectators are welcomed every year. Both the runners and the spectators get to enjoy the course which includes many famous Rotterdam landmarks such as the Erasmus bridge and the Kralingen area. The course is also one of the fastest in the world due to its flat nature. The race ends on the Coolsingel where everyone can experience the buzz and satisfaction of the marathon. While the Rotterdam Marathon is held on the 10th of April, there are other smaller races on the 9th of April like the Kids Run and the City Run which radiate a positive energy throughout the city.
You certainly don’t have to be a runner to enjoy this weekend, the Rotterdam Marathon is practically a festival in and of itself, with people cheering, clapping, and motivating their fellow neighbours. This year, the Nocto team will also be present to celebrate this exciting sporting event. Make sure to keep an eye out for our promo team for a chance to get a free drink!
After the marathon, or even during, you can always keep the great atmosphere going by visiting one of the many amazing restaurants and bars that Rotterdam has to offer; this you can easily do with the Nocto app. Once downloaded, the Nocto app can help you find the best bar or restaurant for you. You can even discover events happening around you, check out the deals available from Nocto partners, or even order an Uber with ease. If you post photos/videos on the app you can earn digital tokens that can be spent at Nocto partners for free drinks, queue skips, and entrance tickets. It’s truly a win-win situation.
We can start you off with a few recommendations. Annabel is a club, café, and restaurant near Rotterdam’s central station. This weekend they will be celebrating the marathon with a party filled with good food, drinks, and music! The party will be held on the terrace of Annabel and Biergarten. Café van Zanten is also hosting a uithijgborrel or the panting borrel. Here you can enjoy some cold beers and snacks while talking about the day’s events. Other great spots to relax and celebrate are Broodje Q, Reijngoud, and De Gele Kanarie.
Enjoy the marathon, we hope to see you there!
